This is your life

Welcome!

I am so glad you are here. I’m eager to share with you valuable, actionable bio-hacks that will not only make you feel better but enhance your performance at work, home and play.

So many of us are: “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” as Joe Cross boldly asserts in his movie by that title. It is time to turn that around. Life is short – let’s get healthy and generate the vitality, brainpower and confidence to really show up in life.

In my quest for personal development and optimized health, I have read, listened and studied a lot. I have also struggled with my own health, particularly digestive and through employing these techniques overcome most of them. The path to wellness and greatness is a journey with many twists and turns. It is easier and, frankly, more pleasant when we walk it together.

With that, here is my first tip to stepping up your health and performance:

Consider how you live and show up in your life today.

This is not an easy task. To get you started, take a look the Holstee Manifesto attached. My husband and I bought it several years ago and hung it on our dining room wall. It is huge, and some of the more refined home décor folks among you may frown upon it being so prominently displayed. But, it represents the principles we aim to live by. Reading the Manifesto often helps us to show up in our lives. In fact, it is how I got here writing to you.

It reads….

“This is your life. Do what you want and do it often.
If you don't like something, change it.
If you don't like your job, quit.
If you don't have enough time, stop watching TV.
If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love.
Stop over-analysing, life is simple.
All emotions are beautiful.
When you eat, appreciate every last bite.
Life is simple.
Open your heart, mind and arms to new things and people, we are united in our differences.
Ask the next person you see what their passion is and share your inspiring dream with them.
Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself.
Some opportunities only come once, seize them.
Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them, so go out and start creating.
Life is short, live your dream and wear your passion.”

Where are you living fully and where are you not congruent? One of the key points I learned in my Health Coaching Program is that our life nourishes us as much as the food we consume. In other words, if you eat all the kale in the world but hate your job – that will catch up with you in some way, or maybe it already has. Wellness and illness are not just things that happen to us, but also things that we do, they are a kind of behaviour. So take a moment to look at your life and behaviours honestly. As Mae West said, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

Until next time - holistically yours,
Monica
